“A fashion show in Tokyo is the best way to present and celebrate my first Dior pre-fall men’s show. Japan is a magical country that I know quite well and that I love particularly for its incredible and unique culture, history and nature, which have always been very fascinating and a great source of inspiration to me.” – Kim Jones

British designer Kim Jones unveiled his first collection for Dior with a runway show in Tokyo. The much awaited show from Jones left the fashionistas in the world in awe, drooling over on each pieces that was brought out on the runway. Traditional techniques mixed with advanced technologies: metallic-printed calfskin was laser-etched on to bomber jackets, while blazers were treated with metallization. It was about updating Dior’s romantic ode into a “hypermodern reality of Japanese culture today”.

Jones never disappoint. The entire collection shows the ‘future’ of Dior Homme, literally! From the stage which they began builodng since mid-September 2018, it took 20 days to paint the space, 16 people worked at the same time to build the robot created by contemporary artist Hajime Sorayama that measures 11 meters long and weighs just over 9 tons.
